by Jessica Priestley(Hg2)

Hg2: Background?

IvanV: I was born in Serbia where I originally began my career.
My passion for electronic sound and music started in the late 80's while I was playing video games as a kid. What
captured me the most about the games was the electronic sound effects and music which is really what grew my interest
in creating my own idea, manifested in music.
As I grew I started producing my own music and slowly got involved in the clubbing scene in Serbia.
In the interest of chasing my passion I spent some time in the UK and I later moved to Cape Town in 2007 to further
expand my career globally.

Hg2: What defines your music style?

IvanV: My music style is easily recognizable by its constant powerful drive and uplifting melodies. It is a mixture of progressive,
deep and tech house and sometimes progressive trance.

Hg2: What music defines your resident city?

IvanV: Hmmm...
Difficult question, but I can say that one can find just about any type of music in Cape Town.
In terms of a clubbing perspective, I would say that Cape Town is definitely a house and trance city.

Hg2: How do you draw the two together?

IvanV: I like to project my idea of the city and culture with the type of the music I formulate. In every person there is the will to
be elevated in life and I like to think that my music encourages people to express themselves in there one unique way.

Hg2: In your resident city, what’s your favourite restaurant?

IvanV: I love Italian food and one of my favourite places is definitely Colcacchio Pizzeria in Cape Town Central.

Hg2: Club?

IvanV: Atmospheer Nightclub in Lansdowne, Cape Town.

Hg2: Bar?

IvanV: Buena Vista Social Cafe – Tyger Valley Waterfront.

Hg2: Hotel?

IvanV: Okay it is getting a bit to fancy for me now.LOL.The Twelve Apostles Hotel – Camps Bay.

Hg2: What kind of music is emerging from your city?

IvanV: With diverse cultures in the city there is a lot of variety in music, which promotes any type of music skills to flourish in
Cape Town.

Hg2: Do you change your set/style according to the city you’re in?

IvanV: Not really, but I always tend to surprise my audience with something new in my set as I don’t like being called “another”
house/progressive/trance DJ. No matter what city I am in, I will try my best to create lots of positive energy and make
that night one to remember.

Hg2: Which city knows how to party the hardest?

I would say definitely Cape Town and Johannesburg.
